Jack Foster

USPTA Pro 1 John J. "Jack" Foster is the director of tennis for the First Colony Community Association in Sugar Land, Texas. He and his wife are the owners of Jack's Tennis/She Strings in Sugar Land. He previously worked for Colony Creek Country Club in Victoria, Texas.

Jack played competitively in tournaments and leagues for many years. He started teaching tennis full time in 1991 because he loves teaching people the joy of the sport.

"I like seeing the joy in students' eyes when they accomplish what I am teaching them," he says.

Part of what has made his career so enjoyable to him is the fact that he is a successful tennis-teaching professional despite having a physical disability. He has a habit of completing whatever he sets out to accomplish. His next goal is to complete the Master Professional requirements, Jack is a USPTA tester. Jack was honored with the 2005 USPTA Star Award, which recognizes teaching professionals who make an indelible mark on their communities through the sport of tennis. In addition, he earned USPTA top 10 education awards for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and the award for 10 consecutive years of continuing education and career development .

Jack received the USPTA Texas Division's Tester of The Year Award for 2009 

Jack is the past third vice president of the Texas Division, chairman of the division's Education and Grants Committee,and past chairman of theTexas Division's Convention Committee. He is  a past member of the USPTA National Convention Committee. He became a member of  USPTA Diversity Committee in 2009. Jack is the past Chair of the USPTA Texas Division Multicultural Committee now the Diversity Committee. He is a past memner of the USTA Adult Tennis Council,and past member of the Houston Tennis Assoc. and past pro adviser of the HTA. He has been published in Tennis magazine.

Jack has a bachelor's degree from A&I University-Kingsville in Laredo, Texas, now part of the Texas A&M University System. Outside of tennis, he was an internal auditor for Central Power and Light for 12 years; director of utilities for Robstown, Texas, for three years; and a financial monitor and program rep for the Texas Department of Commerce for four years.

Jack's wife, Millie, is a Master Racquet Technician and a USRSA tester. They love pets (they have four dogs and one cat), and they enjoy travel, music, live theater and movies.Jack is an avid reader.
